Covid-19 Cancellation and Rebooking Policy

The pandemic has created unprecedented circumstances worldwide and difficult times for our business as we are forced to pay fixed costs and support our staff without revenue. Amazing Abruzzo Tours will survive. We have planned well.

However, the Covid-19 situation has forced many travel and tourism companies to change their policies to match the challenges in this unprecedented and fluid situation. This includes airlines, hotel chains, and other large industry sectors. As a small player, we must follow suit and alter our policies too for business, tax, legal and fairness reasons.

The following policy applies until further notice:

1. We have waived the requirement for balances to be paid 90 days before arrival dates. Balance payment are due one week before arrival.

2. If your government and the Italian government travel advisories against non-essential travel are lifted, we look forward to seeing you in Abruzzo.

3. If your government (Canadian, American, UK etc.) or Italian government travel advisories against non-essential travel are in place, cancellation/rebooking requests can be submitted to us:

a) A month before your arrival date; or

b) When your insurance or credit card companies say you can make a claim for a refund from them; or

c) If you can show you cannot obtain health insurance for you travel dates; or

d) When your flight is cancelled.

3. If one of the requirements set out in #3 are satisfied, we will:

a) Cancel your booking and find you a new date;

b) Work with you and your insurance companies and/or credit card providers on claims to recover your deposits. If your claim for a deposit is successful, the new booking will require a new deposit;

c) If you did not insure your trip, have no access to credit card purchase protection, or your claims are rejected, we will not require a deposit for the new date. Only the balance for your cancelled booking will be owing for the new date.

Note: This is not a credit for the your original deposit. That deposit goes to capital and fixed costs. This is a good will gesture. It is a consumer’s responsibility to insure against unforeseen events. This goes for cars, houses, health, and travel. The deposit-less new booking comes at a loss of revenue for us. But we feel it’s the right thing to do if your insurance or credit card companies let you down during these difficult times.

4. Our policy of refunding 75% of deposits when trips are cancelled 90 days or more before scheduled arrivals is suspended until further noticeThis discretionary policy was designed to help people with unforeseen health problems, like a cancer diagnosis. This follows industry standard, and we apologize for this, but it is a necessary step. There are no refunds for Covid-19-related cancellations.

In short, cancellation and/or new booking requests can be submitted if your government or Italian government restrictions against non-essential travel are still in place and one of the conditions described in #2 is met. If those conditions are met, cancellation and/or new booking requests will be subject to the process described in #3.
